| Bingo: Jazz For Children and Their Parents A CD release concert of Bingo at the NY Society for Ethical Culture will be held November 20th. Bingo consist of songs for children in English with Brazilian and Caribbean Rhythms. Arranger and pianist Roger Davidson formed Bingo, an ensemble of leading Jazz musicians, to breathe new life into cherished childhood tunes. In addition to Brazil's legendary Paulo Braga and Marivaldo dos Sontos, Bingo features vocalist Christy Baron, whose pristine singing brings sophistication and groove to these time-worn classics. Roger Davidson's recorded works range from choral and symphonic pieces to tangos. As a pianist, he continually stretches himself, and keeps exploring the art of jazz piano. Most recently his Amor por el Tango (Soundbrush) has been hailed by Billboard as a “fine record with bold arrangements ... the Davidson originals show the composer's uncanny feel for tango as well as his distinctive take on the genre.”With his Roger Davidson Trio that includes legendary Brazilian drummer Paulo Braga and reknowned bassist David Finck, he has produced several recordings including Rodgers in Rio, and a forthcoming album, Ten to Twelve. Classical compositions include ”Mandala and other Orchestral Recordings by Roger Davidson, ” conducted by Carl St.Clair and Kirk Trevor with soloists Richard Stoltzman and Jeffrey Silberschlag (MMC Recordings). Davidson has also produced Ancient Voyage, an album of improvised music for various instruments with oboeist Susan de Camp. write your comments about the article :: © 2005 Jazz News :: home page |
