| Ladysmith Black Mambazo performing in USA Legendary Grammy award-winning South African vocal collective Ladysmith Black Mambazo will be performing from February to April 2006 in support of their star-studded Heads Up International release, Long Walk To Freedom. The album is a collection of twelve new recordings of classic Mambazo songs and features vocal performances by such pop icons as Sarah McLachlan, Melissa Etheridge, Natalie Merchant, Emmylou Harris, Taj Mahal, Zap Mama, and others. At once their most ambitious and accessible work, Long Walk To Freedom was conceived in recognition (and celebration) of the twentieth anniversary of the group's ascendancy to the world stage (via their contribution to Paul Simon's seminal Graceland), and the dawning of democracy in South Africa twelve years ago. write your comments about the article :: © 2005 Jazz News :: home page |
