| Mandarin Movie in Philadelphia Mandarin Movie (Rob Mazurek, computer/Moog/cornet; Alan Licht, guitar; Jason Ajemian, double-bass/electronics; Frank Rosaly, drums) will play at the Five Spot in Philadelphia Sunday, November 13 Another band of this evening is Sao Paolo Underground (Mauricio Takara, drums/laptop; Guilherme Granado, samplers/percusion/voice; Rob Mazurek, cornet/electronics). Chicago native Rob Mazurek is best known for his collaborations with Gastr del Sol, Isotope 217, Stereolab, Tortoise and Sam Prekop, as well as founding member of the Chicago Underground Duo/Trio/Quartet (Thrill Jockey). Featuring reknowned Brazilian percussionist Mauricio Takara, SP Underground was spawned from the sulpher skies of Sao Paulo, where phantom carnival songs meet laptop beat crushing and spiraling free improvisation.
