Eddie Henderson at Jazz at the Conservatory Series

On Saturday, November 5 renowned jazz trumpeter Eddie Henderson will be performing as part of the Jazz at the Conservatory series at Brooklyn-Queens Conservatory of Music. Henderson will perform with his quartet as well as with members of the Brooklyn Conservatory Community Orchestra.

The first half of the performance will feature Henderson with his quartet, while the second half will feature the addition of members of the Brooklyn Conservatory Community Orchestra to perform an assortment of jazz standards and originals.

Henderson began trumpet studies at the age of 10 in his hometown of San Francisco and, as a teenager, undertook studies at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. After pursuing undergraduate studies at U.C. Berkeley, Henderson went on to medical school at Howard University and practiced medicine in California. While practicing, he continued to play in clubs throughout the Bay area. Eventually, encouraged by Miles Davis, he decided to pursue music full time. Henderson has worked with John Handy, Tyrone Washington, Herbie Hancock Sextet, Art Blakey, Joe Henderson and many others, in addition to his own group.
