| Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey Announce Fall Tour Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey gets back on the road (as if they ever left) to support the release of their brand new studio album, The Sameness of Difference, on HYENA Records. The follow up to last year's critically acclaimed disc, Walking With Giants, finds the visionary improvisational trio switching gears to reinvent the songs from some of their biggest influences, including Brian Wilson (”Wonderful”), Bjork (”Isobel”), The Flaming Lips (”The Spark That Bled”), Neil Young (”Don't Let It Bring You Down”) and Charles Mingus (”Fables of Faubus”) amongst others. The Sameness of Difference also features five original compositions like longtime JFJO fan favorites, “Santiago” and “Halliburton Breakdown.” Produced by Joel Dorn, whose resume includes Leon Redbone, Keith Jarrett, The Neville Brothers and Donny Hathaway, The Sameness of Difference finds JFJO reaching new artistic heights on what is far and away their most accomplished and fully realized studio recording to date. One of the hardest working bands in music, Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey have built a legion of loyal fans across the United States. And the buzz is only growing stronger in underground music circles around the world. This past year alone saw them open shows for Les Claypool at his personal request, appear at festivals such as 10, 000 Lakes, High Sierra and New York City's JVC Jazz Festival and most recently make their concert debut in South America and Europe. As if all that wasn't enough, pianist Brian Haas just completed his first solo tour in support of his debut album, The Truth About Hollywood. Highlights of the ten city run included sold out shows at New York City's Blue Note and Detroit's Baker's Keyboard Lounge and featured special guests such as Marco Benevento, Joe Russo, Jason Fraticelli, Mark Southerland, Skerik and JFJO's drummer Jason Smart. In the meantime, JFJO's bassist, Reed Mathis, joined the band of the transcendent guitarist, Steve Kimock, for a coast to coast U.S. tour. Through the simultaneous combination of jazz elegance and fearless freeform musical exploration, Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey have created a sound that's undeniably their own multidimensional beast. And while maintaining an ongoing obsession with the great American jazz canon, the three young players (none of them older than 31 years) are stylistically rooted by their indie rock sensibilities.
