| The House of Jazz celebrates its 25th Anniversary World renowned singer Ranee Lee and pianist Oliver Jones will initiate at 7:15 pm tonight's celebration. Along with the Quebec Musicians'Guild, House of Jazz founder George Durst invites all artists and musicians who ever performed on his famous stage to join in. Therefore, we can expect jam sessions, that could be qualified as historical, to take place with legends such as Glen Bradley, Johanne Desforges, Lorraine L. Desmarais, Billy Georgette, Bernard Primeau, Johnny Scott, Michelle Sweeney, Vic Vogel, Dawn Tyler Watson and other personalities. Will also perform a newcomer named Barbara Secours. By the same occasion, "live" recordings of The Paradise Band, Yoel Diaz & his Latin Group, Nancy Martinez, and Barbara Secours will be launched. These will also perform some pieces from their CDs. This venture shows the philanthropic side of restaurateur George Durst who, in addition to hiring artists 365 days per year, always give newcomers a chance to acquire stage experience. Visitors come from all over the world to be entertained by the House of Jazz acts, and to taste the Louisiana-style chicken & ribs combo Durst created 25 years ago. The establishment who bore various names, was called House of Jazz in 2003 following extensive renovations. The concept is now available to franchisees. write your comments about the article :: © 2005 Jazz News :: home page |
