Santa Barbara, on America's Riviera, hosts the 8th Annual Santa Barbara Festival of Art & Jazz throughout Columbus Day Weekend in the gardens of the National Historic Landmark Santa Barbara County Courthouse, considered the most beautiful public building in the United States.

Juried art in all mediums by over 75 stellar artists from throughout the United States and Santa Barbara will be displayed by the artists themselves for art lovers and collectors to savor and purchase. Mediums include painting, photography, sculpture, mixed media, printmaking, ceramics, metal, glass, fiber, and wearable fashion.

Over 80 Local Santa Barbara Fine Artists, selected by the Santa Barbara Art Association, will show their works in a gallery setting, giving festival guests the unique opportunity to meet privately with local artists to purchase or commission originals.

Internationally acclaimed jazz performers and the finest local musicians will perform from the main stage. Performers include the legendary Barbara Morrison, Luis Munoz, Soul City Survivors, Peter Clark Group, and Perlene Thurston (full entertainment schedule with biographical information follows). The concerts will take place in the Sunken Gardens of the Courthouse grounds. Low lawn chairs and blankets are welcome. In support of festival cafes, no coolers please. Sorry, no pets permitted on the Courthouse grounds.

In conjunction with this year’s Festival, the 23rd Annual Santa Barbara Concours d'Elegance will showcase a wide variety of spectacular museum quality vintage automobiles. This year's Concours will highlight 75 selected vintage vehicles that will represent a variety of pre- and post-war Marques from such elite pedigrees as Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, Lincoln, Mercedes, Aston Martin, Packard and Bentley, along with the Festival's fine artists and featured jazz performances. Celebrities, auto aficionados, enthusiasts and children of all ages come to share in the excitement. With over 20 years of prestigious heritage, the Concours d'Elegance is one of the nation's premier auto shows.

The dazzling Barbara Morrison has been featured on over 20 recordings, from traditional blues and jazz to gospel and pop. Fresh off a 33 US City tour, Barbara now returns to Santa Barbara to share her unique and exceptional vocal gifts. Barbara will perform at the Festival on Saturday, October 8th at 8pm.

A native of Detroit, Michigan, Perlene Thurston is a songstress who delivers each performance with pleasure, insight and passion. Perlene’s repertoire includes jazz standards, ballads, blues, R&B, country & western, Latin, and some gospel selections.

As President of the Santa Barbara Jazz Society, Peter Clark has brought the finest international and local jazz artists to the Santa Barbara Festival of Art & Jazz, and will himself be performing at the Festival. This world class entertainer, acclaimed jazz pianist, vocalist, composer and recording artist has performed in Europe, Russia, Africa, Asia, Australia and throughout the United States.

Luis Munoz, composer, arranger and percussionist, was born in San José, Costa Rica. In 1974 Luis emigrated to the United States and completed his Degree in Music Composition at UCSB under the tutelage of renowned British composer Peter Fricker. Munoz has worked as a music producer and arranger, as well as a percussionist for numerous artists such as Airto Moreira, Etta James, Flora Purím and Jim Messina.

As Southern California’s top show band, the Soul City Survivors have recently shared the stage with such luminaries as Gladys Knight and the Pips, The Temptations and Jackson Browne. Soul City Survivors is a thirteen-piece soul revue with five pieces of seductive brass, three singers dancing the top 200 dances of the soulful sixties and seventies, and a rhythm section that is second to none.

The Santa Barbara Festival of Art & Jazz continues the successful eight-year tradition of a major Fall art and music festival originally presented as Fine Art Santa Barbara for five years in the magnificent gardens of the world famous Courthouse. Santa Barbara, lauded as one of the five leading fine art colonies in the West, has long been internationally recognized as a major cultural and entertainment destination and for the incomparable natural beauty of its beaches and mountain vistas.
