| Live Swing Dance Event Day one of the SwingDanceUSA three day dance convention and competition starts Friday night at the beautiful and historic Centro Austriano in the heart of Ybor City. Led by the incredible vocals of Paula Alexis, Wayne Pearson, with his group of highly polished swing & jazz veterans will be appearing live at the Centro Asturiano, in Tampa, FL Friday, September 30, 2005. Wayne Pearson, has been jazzing it up for over 30 years, starting at the young age of 14 in Philadelphia. His professional music career has taken him from Philadelphia, to Atlantic City, to Europe, to New Orleans, to Miami, to Tampa Bay. He's played jazz festivals too numerous to mention, and clubs including the Famous Door in New Orleans. The band developed their strong and tight improvisational style by performing 14 years at Ybor City's famous Cafe Creole. This is a Swinging band that fuels the excitement in a room, and then feeds on it. They have been a favorite of Lindy Hoppers and Jitterbuggers since the resurgence of the swing dance scene in the late 90's. Bandleader, Wayne Pearson (on Sax & Clarinet), is joined by Ed Dowling on Trumpet, Lenny Braun on Guitar, Jon Gurrin on Upright Bass, Ron Bartlett on Drums and Paula Alexis vocals. The band's improvisational style and rich strong vocals make every song a flavorful delight. write your comments about the article :: © 2005 Jazz News :: home page |
