| John Mayer Trio Releases Digital Single Before embarking on an North American tour last week, John Mayer Trio (with Mayer on guitar, Steve Jordan on drums and Pino Palladino on bass) went into the studio to record the group's first single. The digital track, titled "Who Did You Think I Was, " will be available for download exclusively in the iTunes Music Store beginning September 13, along with the newly cut B-side, "Come When I Call." The acclaimed director Gus Van Sant (To Die For, Elephant, Good Will Hunting) has directed a video clip for "Who Did You Think I Was." While Van Sant has made a handful of music videos over the years (notably, the clip for the Red Hot Chili Peppers' "Under the Bridge"), this is something completely different. The inventive audiovisual piece will be presented on both online and traditional video outlets. The sold-out JM3 tour kicked off September 6 with the first of two shows at San Francisco's historic Fillmore and concludes in October with three East Coast dates opening for the Rolling Stones. The two shows at Chicago's House of Blues (September 21-22) will be recorded for a live album, to be released November 22 on Aware/Columbia. write your comments about the article :: © 2005 Jazz News :: home page |
