| Plans on to stage 2006 Jazz Fest As The Associated Press informs, despite the destruction brought by Hurricane Katrina, organizers of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival say there will be a 2006 musical extravaganza. “There will be a Jazz Fest. We are committed to putting on the 2006 Jazz and Heritage Festival, whatever that may take, ” said Quint Davis, Jazz Fest's producer-director. At this time, Davis said a site, dates and a format have not been determined. “There will be a Jazz Fest in 2006. It will be in Louisiana. It will be as close to New Orleans as we can get it, ” Davis said. The usual site for Jazz Fest is the Fair Grounds Race Course, which was damaged by the hurricane. If the track cannot be used, another site in Louisiana will be sought, Davis said. Davis and Jazz Fest founder George Wein have met with officials of AEG Live, which bankrolled the festival in 2005.
