CD Compilation series for American Rag Cie

uango Music Group has announced an exclusive partnership with American Rag Cie to release a series of CDs inspired by the innovative lifestyle retailing chain. The inaugural release is a self-titled double disc soundtrack to the American Rag stores, compiled by Quango founder/ CEO Bruno Guez and American Rag’s music buyer Allen Voskanian. For the first time ever, this new series of music compilations is being made commercially available in music stores and other retail outlets outside of American Rag.

“This compilation embodies the spirit and verve of American Rag perfectly, ” says Guez.. “It was a joy to work with Allen and Mark Werts and choose the kind of music and artists that complement the lifestyle American Rag Cie exemplifies through its customers and trend setting product lines.”

Founder of American Rag, Mark Werts comments on the development of music for the store, “This is a key element to the American Rag brand. It began several years ago when we would be playing music in the store that we had found on buying trips to Europe, and customers would ask us ‘where can I buy that song?’ Bruno and Allen have infused the same zest and forward thinking attitude into the new CD, capturing the atmosphere of American Rag in every groove. I think he is a genius at what he does.” Allen Voskanian seconds the notion. “The timing was just right, pouring our musical passion into such a rewarding project never felt better. Every time I hear the CD I feel the magic it evokes.” Voskanian and Guez have collaborated on numerous projects together, forging a creative relationship in the early 1990’s as influential DJs in Los Angeles’ underground music scene.

The two-disc set reflects the American Rag retail tradition by presenting unique collaborations from established stars and breakthrough tracks from exciting new artists, exposing listeners to a spectrum of new music trends from around the world alongside vintage classics. Disc 1 melds an eclectic mix of future dub, electro pop, hip hop and soul, as well as the rare gem from Arthur Louis and Eric Clapton who deliver an extraordinary cover of Bob Dylan’s classic “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door.” Also included in the kickoff disc are German hip popster’s Chicks On Speed, and a scorching remix from Red Astaire of Sia from Zero 7. Disc 2 highlights include a searing mix of electro pop and house music, featuring Rodney Hunter and Only Child’s uplifting electro-soul grooves, as well as sumptuous efforts from British pop sensation Moloko and French house producer Bob Sinclair.

American Rag Cie has been leading the charge in lifestyle retailing since 1984, reinventing branding culture with groundbreaking stores in Los Angeles, and San Francisco. Now consolidated, customers can discover emerging designers under one roof in a host of provocative platforms, including, apparel, shoes, sportswear, vintage clothing, home furnishing, books, DVDs and of course, music.
