| New York Metro Vocal Arts Ensemble announces its upcoming fall program New York Metro Vocal Arts Ensemble (NYMVAE) announces its upcoming fall program of vocal performances with a Concert Series: Classical Performances in a Contemporary Space in conjunction with the Baruch Performing Arts Center (BPAC). The concert series will be held one Monday, each month from September through December. On September 12, the concert series begins with El Quijote to Tango featuring Ko Kaiden’s vocal talents and skill with the instrumental oboe and English horn. Pablo Zinger will accompany on piano. Since 2001, Kaiden and Zinger have collaborated on a repertory of Spanish Art songs and, more recently, Kaiden has expanded the Spanish repertoire to include Carlos Gardel and Astor Piazzolla’s tangos. On October 3, soprano, and founding member of NYMVAE, Leonora J.D. McClernan will honor Filipino American History month with Babalík sa Pinanggalingán: One Filipina American’s Journey in Song. • Mezzo soprano Joyce Tannian’s versatility allows her to feel at home in operatic repertoire as well as in cabaret and jazz. On November 7, with Jorge Parodi accompanying her on piano, Ms. Tannian will perform a concert titled Echoes Awake. • And to conclude the calendar year, NYMVAE will present a seasonal concert on December 5 with Holiday Concert: Winter Wonderland. New York Metro Vocal Arts Ensemble, a nonprofit organization, was founded in 2000 by a talented collective of singers, musicians and composers looking to create new opportunities to practice their craft and better educate the New York community about the possibilities of classical performance. NYMVAE has performed 30 works for over 3, 000 audience members, produced outreach programs for area community centers, given seminars on the vocal arts to inner-city students and created performing opportunities for more than 65 singers. write your comments about the article :: © 2005 Jazz News :: home page |
