Jazz, R&B Singer-Songwriter Denarris Talks the Talk

On-the-rise jazz/neo-soul singer-songwriter Denarris has made it to “The Other Side” and back. Chevis King and Joe Howard, hosts of Dallas-based AM-KFCD 990’s talk show “The Other Side, ” recently featured Denarris in an hour-long segment to discuss the success he’s achieved with his debut CD, “Songs From the Heart — Part 1.” “The Other Side” contacted Denarris for an exclusive interview upon learning of his new worldwide digital distribution deal, comprising 125 digital stores in more than 30 countries, and the just-announced agreement that has made all tracks from “Songs From the Heart” available on iTunes.

“It’s a great opportunity to have creative freedom over the material that is released and to be given an international forum to display the work, ” Denarris told Chevis & Joe.

Chevis & Joe expressed admiration for Denarris’ music and amazement at the remarkable headway he’s made working independently through Denarris Music. Denarris’ songs have received airplay on a multitude of radio stations across the country and abroad, and his single “I Need Your Love” has surpassed such artists as Prince, Outkast, Jessica Simpson, Duran Duran and Tim McGraw on various adult contemporary charts.

“The Other Side’s” hosts played the songs “Walker”, “I Think I’m Falling in Love", “Midnight Kiss” and “I Need Your Love, ” and inquired as to when “Songs From the Heart — Part 2” would be released; Denarris replied that it would be his third CD, following an as-yet untitled upbeat CD whose first single will be a jazz instrumental number called “Scatman”. Chevis & Joe invited Denarris to appear on future editions of “The Other Side” to discuss his work as it progresses.

Denarris, who was recently honored with a Best R&B Artist nomination by All Access Magazine, was also lauded by Barry Towler of Soul Express Magazine, who named “I Think I’m Falling in Love” one of his favorite songs of the year, while Scott O’Brien of smoothjazz.com singled out “the lovely piano ballad ‘Midnight Kiss, ’ the cinematic ‘Mallisa’ and the touching vocal ‘For All Times’” as highlights.
