| Afro Caribbean Tropical meets Innovative Jazz in Chicago Africa International House USA, Inc. is sponsoring Hai Rezolution featuring Sherry Scott at the 16th annual African Festival of the Arts in Chicago, IL. The concert is a four day event from September 2nd to the 5th. Hai Rezolution, a 10 piece Afro Caribbean Jazz Ensemble based in New York features Chicago’s own Ms. Sherry Scott. Sherry Scott is the original female vocalist with “Earth Wind and Fire.” Her vocal styling helped to create a sound and image that influenced not only other contemporary groups but the record industry as well. Ms. Scott composed and sang the groups first top 40 hit “I Think About Loving You.” This title currently enjoys air play around the world, sampled by the Fugees for their first album “Nappy Head.” During Ms. Scott’s tenure with EWF the recording of the soundtrack for Melvin Van Peeples first film, “Sweet Sweetbacks Bad Ass" Song was created. Along with her time well spent with the AACM of Chicago Ms. Scott is uniquely placed to create “Jazz” in the 21st century. Ms. Scott latest accomplishment is heading up an exciting ten piece conjunto styled Afro Caribbean Jazz ensemble, Hai Rezolution. Covering a wide range of song material from select Jazz Standards to cutting edge Afro-Caribbean Jazz originals this artist has developed a truly unique sound. Fast growing in urban centers internationally with dance lovers as well as those who appreciate innovative Jazz, Sherry Scott and Hai Rezolution are once again sticking to their roots by creating a fresh new sound. Hai Rezolution’s magic is in their ability to use a "Tropical Format." How the group blends Classic Jazz with Tropical sounds and rhythms is amazing, the blending sets up some fantastic listening and danceable music. With the core group of musicians being founding members of the early Willie Colon (Salsa), Robin Kenyatta (Caribbean Jazz) and Earth Wind & Fire (Pop Jazz) Bands, they have developed a very uniquely “tropical” style mambo dancers love.
