Underwood is also an accomplished Upright Bassist who has studied with jazz greats Mark Levine, Raz Kennedy, and David Friesen. It was her ability and style that caught the eye of world-renowned bassist David Friesen, and so began the collaboration of “Underwood Uncurling, ” featuring Airto Moreria famed for his works in Chick Corea’s “Return to Forever” group. Don Heckman of the L.A. Times describes Underwood as having “a fragile, youthful-sounding voice. But the emotional thrust of her vocals and the lyrical imagery of her original songs are the product of a seasoned creative mind.” Join Belinda and her special guests: John Barker (guitar), Ken Dow (bass), Mike Cannon (drums). Join Belinda for a night of originality and depth as she presents her original compositions seasoned with fresh renditions of the classic standards, but do not expect the ordinary. write your comments about the article :: © 2005 Jazz News :: home page |
