| Sydney Bands popular at South Coast and Central Coast Venues A Sydney band called Viva the band are currently storming the Sydney scene, the south coast and Central coast venues, having performed Internationally and extensively through Australia. The band recently performed at the Tainan International Chihsi Arts Festival in Taiwan in 2004. They were showcased in a street parade, an official welcome by the Mayor and continual television performances. The band returned to Taiwan in July 2005 for a month of daily performances at the Kenting International folk song festival and the famous Howard’s 5 star resort. The band has been invited to perform for other events in Taiwan and a series of performances throughout mainland China. Viva the band perform at jazz festivals and major music events including: Newcastle Jazz Festival, Morpeth Jazz Festival, Manly International Jazz Festival , Kiama Jazz Festival, Illawarra Jazz festival, , Gold Coast Jazz Festival, Thredbo Jazz Festival, Sydney Royal Easter show, Sydney Olympic Park and Darling Harbour music events. The band is currently enjoying lots of wonderful venues throughout Sydney, recently performing at a “Moulin Rouge” themed party at Tumbalong Ballroom, The Miss World Butterfly Ball at Four Point by Sheraton at Darling Harbour and Discovery After Dark at the Australian Maritime Museum. Viva the band perform a rich tapestry of music skillfully blending a mixture of: jazz, swing, latin, gypsy jazz , salsa, French , Spanish Songs, cabaret and classic show tunes. Gerri and Jose Santos are the featured vocalists and percussionists for the group. Other members include Peter Rappolt, leader (guitar), Marie Rappolt (bass and musette accordion), Morris David (jazz violin) and Griff Beale (vocal & drums). This line-up creates a “Hot Club of France” style, reminiscent of a French nightclub swing band. Viva the band are very economical and popular at all their venues, they are regularly booked for private parties and functions delighting their audiences with their unique and varied styles of music.
