Weekly Jazz and Improvised Music series in Los Angeles

Club Tropical and Banana Bread Records have inaugurated a new Monday jazz and improvised music series entitled “Ear Orchard.” “The series picks up where Sensound Music’s ‘Jazz on A Monday Vibe’ series left off. Our strategy is to extend the success of the existing Monday series and tighten the focus on providing fresh, provocative improvised music from emerging artists based in the Los Angeles area.’” said Robert Jacobson, President of Banana Bread Records.

“Our goal is to provide musical sustenance to listeners looking for new perspectives and aural landscapes. Hence our colorful, evocative new name, ‘Ear Orchard.’” “I am very excited to have Robert in charge of this series. I am a long-time supporter of improvised music and love having these great musicians bring their music to my club. I know that Robert’s thoughtful approach will ensure that ‘Ear Orchard’ musical offerings will complement the club’s other series, such as the “Cryptonight” series on Thursday, which features more established jazz and creative music groups.” Los Angeles-based Banana Bread Records is a music label founded by musician Robert Jacobson. This progressive jazz label gives opportunities to southern California based musicians who might not normally have an outlet to record. Banana Bread Records artists reflect the diversity of musical styles that currently exist in the Southern California music scene. The roster includes Coldwater, Hazmat, Svara, Gornish Helfn Trio, and Jazz Farm Distributors and retailers include Burnside Records, North Country, CD Baby, and I-tunes.
