Jimi Hendrix is a woman - her name is Ana Popovic

Blues sensation Charming Popovic won't be playing pop or traditional Balkan music, she'll give the audience some searing blues guitar, smooth jazzy licks, and a proof that the incarnation of Jimi Hendrix is a woman. Belgrade, Yugoslavia, may not be the first place you think of when it comes to blues music. Also a sexy young woman, looking like a European model may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you're picturing a guitar-slinging blues musician. However, if you put the two together you get the newest sensation in the world of blues music and that is Ana Popovic.

Shake up equal parts of searing electric slide guitar, tight blues grooves, and a soulful feminine voice. Now add a taste of jazz and pour it in a funky glass over some gritty rock. Ana plays an aggressive style that challenges and of her male counterparts.

Ana Popovic, Belgrade born guitar player, slide guitar player, singer, songwriter, is from her early age influenced by American roots music. She grew up listening to blues records from her dad's collection. At the age of 19 she found her first band 'Hush' that reached top 3 on charts in her home country. Several years later she has reached enormous popularity with jazz, pop and blues festival gigs all over Europe and even in the USA. Without a doubt she's Europe's biggest blues act today. Ana Popovic is determined to make her way to the top ranks of the American Blues Scene, just like she did in Europe- she's got the necessary chops, charisma, enthusiasm and energy. Her live program is a winning mixture of traditional blues and elements of RandB, jazz and soul; blues rock of the 21st century, guaranteed to thrill any live music audience.

Ana was the only continental European artist nominated for the most important award in Blues in the USA: the "W.C.Handy" award for the "best New Artist Debut" (2003). She won the prestige and the oldest award for Jazz in France: "Jazz A Juan Revelations" at Juan Les Pines, France (2003). Nominated for "The Best Blues Album" at the Jammie Awards, New York, (2003). 3 time nominee in France for "The Best Singer", 'Best Guitar Player" " Best New Album" for the French Blues Awards. (2002)
