| Unitarian Service in Huntington Focuses on John Coltrane Coinciding with this summers' Huntington John Coltrane Tribute Jazz Festival, the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Huntington will present the service John Coltrane: A Love Supreme, an exploration into the enduring spirit of this legendary artist, and one of his masterworks, A Love Supreme. Guest speaker and musician Lewis Porter is one of the top Coltrane experts in the world. Mr. Porter is an excellent jazz pianist as well, will be joined by bassist Brad Jones and will play excerpts of A Love Supreme. Considered one of the most important works in all of jazz, and popular music, they will learn why A Love Supreme continues to exhilarate and inspire listeners today. Additionally they will talk about efforts now underway to save the Dix Hills house where this timeless piece was composed. This is tied into the movement to save the house in Dix Hills where Trane wrote the piece, and the Cotrane Tribute Festival this summer that Ravi curated for the Huntington Arts Council.
