The 26th Annual W.C. Handy Blues Awards

On May 5, 2005, The Blues Foundation announced the recipients of the 26th Annual W.C. Handy Blues Awards. Eight Alligator recording artists received a total of 11 awards. Soul/gospel singing legend Mavis Staples received four awards, more than any other artist (including the coveted Blues Album of the Year and Blues Song of the Year for “Have A Little Faith”), winning in every category in which she was nominated.
