Sydney Bands at Thredbo Jazz Festival

The 18th Yalumba Thredbo Jazz Festival is set to be another fantastic weekend away in picturesque Thredbo at Mt Kosciusko Australia. With more than 15 unique venues taking part in this years program including the popular dinner and show with Gondola ride on Saturday night and the Thredbo Village Square outdoor gigs it is set to be a great weekend for music lovers who’ll be high on Jazz, food and wine in the mountains!

This year’s program offers a great mix of jazz styles and also a little blues and international flavour like Viva the band with their mix of latin and salsa. Viva was so well received last year they have been asked to be featured at the Terrace Restaurant for “A Night at the French Quarter”. They will perform a mixture of Jazz, Swing, Latin, Salsa, Gypsy Jazz, French and Spanish songs in a truly entertaining cabaret style. This is a delightful band, do not miss this one! Their Web site ishttp://www.aband.info/

Other bands at the festival include the band Ricoson - Buena Vista Combo. The festival welcomes special guest Mary Stallings from the USA, a dynamic jazz vocalist who will feature in the Kosciusko Room and as part of the huge Sunday afternoon festival concert.

The ever popular gospel concerts at the Thredbo Community Centre will this year feature Armondo Hurley singing with the Louise Perryman Band on Saturday and Bridie and the Boogie Kings on the Sunday morning. Armondo has a strong passionate voice and it is sure to be an unforgettable experience.

There will be swing bands and dancing for all and a mixture of Jazz styles and other music that is certain to impress the traditional jazz lovers with Errol Buddle and The Sydney Zenith Jazz Band while also offering a blend of new jazz acts for the younger market including some funkier up beat jazz from The Funk-O-Matics and Exposed Bone.
