| The Scottish Guitar Quartet will perform their "Landmarks" CD album launch at the Queen's Hall, Edinburgh on Thursday 21st April. The concert starts at 8.pm. Landmarks is the groups third CD and was produced by the world famous producer Calum Malcolm over three days in November 2004. SGQ are signed to the Circular label and the album is released throughout the UK on the 14th of April. The SGQ are a contemporary music group, comprising four of Scotland's leading acoustic guitarist-composers; Ged Brockie, Nigel Clark, Malcolm MacFarlane and Kevin MacKenzie. SGQ are definately not a classical quartet, drawing on celtic, modern, classical and jazz genres, with strong influences from world music. The group blend these disparate styles together to produce an eclectic sound that is both unique and powerful with the textures and timbres of four acoustic guitars. As well as this, SGQ use the futuristic Frameworks guitar and VG-88 midi controller system to produce a quite incredible sound unheard from traditional guitar quartets. write your comments about the article :: © 2005 Jazz News :: home page |
