Sumiglia, a new CD by the stellar Greek vocalist Savina Yannatou will be released on ECM on March 1st. As on her first ECM CD, Terra Nostra, Savina traverses the globe singing in 11 different languages and finding the perfect voice for each song. “Yannatou’s versatility is little short of astonishing as she adapts her voice –- sweet and childlike in some cases, harsh and masculine in others -– to songs from Greece, Sardinia, the Hebrides, the Caribbean, Sephardic Spain and beyond. A stunning album, improving with each rehearing.” --- Don Heckman reviewing “Terra Nostra” in the L.A.
