Geneon Entertainment Presents Legendary Jazz Greats' Captivating Performances on DVD

Geneon Entertainment is set to release an amazing assortment of live concert footage from some of the most significant men in jazz when Chick Corea & Gary Burton Interaction, Lionel Hampton & The Golden Men of Jazz and Stan Getz - The Last Recording arrive on DVD January 11, 2005. Capturing each of these jazz greats at the pinnacle of their performance days, each DVD represents a milestone in their legendary careers: Getz's last concert recording from 1990, Corea & Burton performing together for the first time in three decades and Hampton's stunning evening with the “Golden Men of Jazz.” Available for $19.98, each DVD is featured in 5.1 surround sound, uncompressed 2.0 stereo and includes a biographical timeline and liner notes from each artist.


Chick Corea & Gary Burton - Interaction. Few musicians receive the kind of respect that Chick Corea and Gary Burton have achieved. Both have made history with their innovative jazz music and decades of amazing performances. As a duo they have played together since 1972. Presented here is an “Interaction” between two jazz giants recorded from their 1997 European tour. The DVD is available in widescreen format and includes an interview with Corea, biographical timeline of Corea and separate biographical timeline of Burton.

The legendary Lionel Hampton, the “King of the Vibraphone,” performs in concert with his dazzling array of sidemen: “The Golden Men of Jazz.” This sensational performance recorded during his 1993 European tour was so outstanding it led to a thundering 20-minute ovation! Featuring an amazing line-up of musicians: Hampton (vibraphone, drums, vocals), Clark Terry (flugelhorn, trumpet), Harry 'Sweets' Edison (trumpet), Al Grey (trombone), Benny Golson (saxaphone), Junior Mance (piano), Jimmy Woode (bass) and Panama Francis (drums), the DVD is available in both standard stereo and an amazing 5.1 surround sound audio mix! The DVD bonus material includes a biographical timeline of Hampton, profiles of “The Golden Men of Jazz” performers and liner notes regarding the vibraphone.

Stan Getz - The Last Recording. Stan “the Sound” Getz was one of the most highly regarded saxophonists in jazz history. He had an appealing sense of melody and a command of the technical. However, it was his tone that Getz was known for -- that rich, distinct tone that was envied by so many musicians and praised by countless critics. His last concert recording is presented on this DVD, recorded live on video in 1990, one year before his death. This DVD includes extra bonus material, biographical timeline and liner notes.
