City Rhythm Orchestra With Special Guest Joey De Francesco Release "Vibrant Tones"

One of today’s hottest big bands teams with the modern master of the Hammond B3 Organ for an incredible display of sizzling brass, innovative arrangements and dazzling solos. City Rhythm and Joey DeFrancesco have been thrilling audiences for years and their collaborations have created many memorable moments, including the 1997 concert that was captured on their successful CD Swingin’ Blue. Now they present a studio recording that captures all the sound and excitement.

On Vibrant Tones, the big band plays with great intensity and features its many fine horn soloists. Arranger Joe Matt writes rich charts that show off the band while leaving plenty of space for Joey’s incredible artistry to shine. The sessions were done at New York City’s acclaimed Edison Recording Studios and engineered by Gary Chester.

This 2-Disc set includes a 60-minute DVD of the ensemble’s 2003 summer jazz festival show, so you can watch Joey and the big band bring down the house “live”! The brilliant art work featured throughout the package is by internationally renowned artist Giancarlo Impiglia.One of the most exciting jazz shows performing today, the Joey De Francesco-City Rhythm concerts fire up audiences like no other!

City Rhythm has produced several CDs, including Goin’ to Town (1994), Swingin’ Blue (1997), Strikes Again (1999), Sounds of Hope (2000).
Joey DeFrancesco has released over 25 CDs on various major labels and sold thousands of discs world-wide. He was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2003.
