Publisher:Princeton Architectural Press Pages: 239 Paperback Cocinando!(cooking) is a book true, but actually its a work of art! A wonderful reproduction of the original albums,Celia Cruz graces the cover of the book. And its size 7.5x7.5, 19.1x19.1 CM is a very appropriate and comfortable to hold in your hands. Just about the size of a 10" inch vinyl record. There are eight chapters of text explaining the music of eras the covers illustrate: 1940sthru 1960s Cu-bop,popular Latin Boogaloo of the 1960s, Salsa etc. So, its not only the sexy, strong, sometimes morbid covers some like the Superman cover of Ray Barretto are quite comical. The history is told in detail. A picture book that educates and entertains. All the stars are represented Machito,Tito Puente,Willie Colon,Joe Cuba. A caricature of Dizzy Gillespie from Gene Norman Presents, and other latin Jazz covers. Each page is a delights... towards the back of the book there are two pages of company logos included is a discography seven pages worth. Cocinando! is worth owning if your a fan of Latin music. Its a collectors paradise, you can almost hear the music coming from the pages. A wonderful book for sure! more info at www.papress.com published 09.11.2010 © 2005 jazz news :: home page |
