FineReader 10 Corporate Edition Released

ABBYY has announced the availability of ABBYY FineReader 10 Corporate Edition, the latest version of its optical character recognition (OCR) software for small- and medium-sized businesses. In addition to all the functions and technologies available in ABBYY FineReader 10 Professional Edition, this corporate-level version provides a wide array of workgroup and networking capabilities. It allows businesses to easily add OCR functionality to every computer in the office and greatly reduces the time employees spend on labour-intensive routines when working with documents. The result is a measureable streamlining within the enterprise of the document conversion, digitisation and archiving processes.

ABBYY FineReader 10 Corporate Edition helps organisations reduce expenses by providing concurrent licenses that can be shared among several users. It ensures automated installation from the server onto several or all workstations within the local network and provides support for multiple network MFPs. This version also delivers a special Hot Folder tool that automatically "watches" folders, subfolders and mailbox folders in the corporate network and sends the located documents for processing according to predefined rules. Users have the ability to set up processing time for each task, which allows them to more efficiently use their hardware resources by scheduling the most intensive tasks to be performed during night hours or weekends. Additionally, Corporate Edition is able to distribute different steps of the OCR process among several stations in a network and therefore, to divide the workload between several users when converting large amounts of documents.

FineReader 10 Corporate Edition is based on ABBYY's latest recognition technologies that go beyond traditional OCR and text recognition. With the second-generation of ABBYY's ADRT (Adaptive Document Recognition Technology), FineReader can intelligently re-create the logical structure of multi-page documents and accurately reproduce even the most complex formatting attributes such as hierarchical heading structures and the table of contents. This makes the output multi-page files as easily editable as native Microsoft Office files. With significantly enhanced ABBYY Camera OCR technology, the product expands the traditional methods of acquiring images for recognition from scanners and standard digital cameras to mobile phone cameras. In order to more efficiently share documents and save valuable storage space, FineReader includes an advanced MRC compression technology. This feature optimises the size of output PDF files, reducing them in size by up to 10 times while preserving visual quality. FineReader 10 Corporate Edition also allows users to save converted documents directly to Microsoft SharePoint libraries in supported electronic formats.

ABBYY FineReader 10 Corporate Edition is available for purchase through ABBYY's online store and partner outlets worldwide.
