| Telefónica Ruta Movistar App Now Available on the App Store Telefónica has announced the availability of its Ruta Movistar App on the App Store. Ruta Movistar offers iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS users a navigation system which helps them to easily reach their destination by car or on foot. The app also locates points of interest such as restaurants, hotels, petrol stations, supermarkets and ATMs. The service turns the iPhone into a fully-functioning navigator and includes routes, points of interest, 3D images, text-to-speech voice instructions and safety camera alerts. The app was developed using software by Telmap and uses Navteq maps. Ruta Movistar's unique Place Carousel and intuitive Tap'n'Go search function provides a large category-base of points of interests making it easy to find hotels, cafes, bars etc. in cities and towns across the Iberian Peninsular (Spain, Portugal, Andorra and Gibraltar), the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands. The software used by Ruta Movistar, and created by Telmap, uses both 3D maps and GPS to deliver results.
