Electricity Supply Board Signs Three-Year Deal with UC4

Electricity Supply Board (ESB), Ireland's leading energy utility company, has signed a three-year deal with workload automation specialist UC4. The new agreement will increase productivity, save time and money as the utility provider extends its IT services to support the changes required to operate in the new wholesale electricity market driven by market deregulation.

Introduced in 2005 by ESB to automate the retail electricity market workload generated by SAP's real-time pricing technology, the renewal will expand the role of UC4 into wholesale IT systems. The UC4 Workload Automation Suite is being used to manage file transfers, billing processes, meter reading and dunning processes and more recently its bidding, settlement and aggregation processes.

UC4 was chosen because of the success since its implementation following deregulation of the energy retail market in Ireland. UC4 has allowed ESB to place the monitoring of jobs in the hands of selected end users with an intuitive, secure Windows-based client interface.
