| Comic Relief Selects Carrenza Comic Relief has selected Cloud Computing specialist Carrenza, to help redevelop its Web and Donations platforms. Carrenza was asked to review current and emerging technologies and then design and deliver a new generation of hosting platform for Comic Relief that matched their strategic business requirements with innovative technology that will deliver on the night. For Comic Relief's public websites Carrenza has provided a scalable, virtualised, hosting and development platform using LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP). For the separate donations platform, Carrenza have re-engineered the existing Java and Oracle platform to include Oracle 11g in a stretched RAC database cluster, delivering unparalleled resiliency for the charity event. Working closely with Comic Relief's Technical Partners Carrenza designed a platform using best of breed technology - including Cisco Networking, HP blade servers, 3PAR Storage and VMware infrastructure virtualisation software – to ensure Comic Relief had the processing power and resiliency needed for the next generation of their record-breaking donations platform. With the advice and guidance of Oracle Pre-Sales Consultants, Carrenza then re-engineered the infrastructure and database technology behind the donations engine to cope with growing performance demands. As a result the donation platform now incorporates Oracle's advanced monitoring tools, and has been upgraded to the latest 11g database. In six months Carrenza has: • Virtualised the whole Comic Relief hosting environment; • Introduced new corporate partners, including Paypal and 3Par; • Re-engineered the three critical business systems; • Deployed the re-engineered systems to the virtualised hosting platform. write your comments about the article :: © 2009 Computing News :: home page |
