AIRMILES Checks in to 0844 Inbound Calling

AIRMILES worked with ntl:Telewest Business to undertake a substantial telecoms migration project as it transitioned from 0870 to 0844 inbound Customer Contact Centre numbers. ntl:Telewest Business, part of the Virgin Media Group, will also provide the ongoing Customer Contact Centre phone services to AIRMILES, which has been able to lower its communications costs as part of the change project.

AIRMILES faced a significant project management challenge to migrate the national rate 0870 numbers it had previously used for inbound calls over to the lower rate 0844 tariff. The need to introduce 0844 numbers was driven by uncertainty surrounding the future of 0870 caused by an ofcom consultation. The AIRMILES Customer Contact Centre in Birchwood, Cheshire, is one of the first points of contact for the loyalty scheme's 1.6 million UK collectors.

It was essential for the company to ensure that the number changes were undertaken with minimal service disruption. ntl:Telewest Business' intricate and consultative approach to project management ensured that phone services were uninterrupted throughout the change process.
