| Glen Manchester Scoops Entrepreneur of the Year Award Glen Manchester, CEO of enterprise communications provider Thunderhead has won the Growing Business entrepreneur of the year award. The award recognises an individual entrepreneur who has made an outstanding contribution to their company, industry sector and the wider economy. "Recession creates necessity and necessity is the mother of all invention. We were formed in a technology recession post the dot-com burst in 2001", said Manchester. "I took it upon myself to form my company. As a result of that, we've sold our technology all over the world." Glen set up Thunderhead in 2001 when he saw a gap in the market for enterprise communications across all sectors. He funded the company entirely with his own money from the sale of his first company, Geneva Digital and didn't rely on traditional VC backing. Within four years of launching the first version of the Thunderhead platform, Thunderhead has become established as a global market leader of innovative technology, which is already a standard for all industry sectors including Government, insurance and banking. "This award demonstrates that UK companies can be the best in the world", he said. "I'd like to say thank you very much, I'm deeply honoured to win this award. I'm truly delighted", he added. Thunderhead also scooped the 2008 Deloitte Technology Fast 500 EMEA award for fastest growing technology company this week. The company achieved an unbeatable growth rate of 28,558 percent over the 2003-2007 period compared with an average growth rate of 1,297 percent for the same period of all companies ranked on the Technology Fast 500 EMEA 2008 Programme. write your comments about the article :: © 2008 Computing News :: home page |
