Wyse Unveils New Line of Thin Clients for Knowledge Workers

Wyse Technology has announced a new line of thin clients designed for virtualisation environments targeting knowledge workers that require smaller datacenters to drive them. The new line includes models with support for high resolution, high definition (HD) video, dual digital display and future graphics protocols aimed at advanced client virtualisation environments. These thin clients support the full array of streaming and virtualisation datacenter technologies at the highest performances levels ever offered by Wyse.

The new line of thin clients includes three levels of performance: the Wyse R50LE and Wyse R90LE which offer the highest processing power available today in a thin client; the Wyse R50L and Wyse R90L which add increased processing power, enhanced multimedia handling, and Bluetooth and integrated Wi-Fi options; and the Wyse V10L Dual DVI and mobile Wyse X50L, which offer operating system efficiencies that provide a compelling user experience. Each includes support for Wyse Collaborative Processing Architecture, which intelligently leverages client processing power to reduce server load while displaying rich multimedia applications and content.

The Wyse R50LE with SUSE Linux Enterprise and R90LE with Wyse enhanced Windows XP Embedded offer the highest levels of performance and speed available. Offering PCI express expansion and support for Windows 7-level graphics for future proofing, this new line of thin clients is suited for knowledge worker environments such as healthcare, financial trading and analysis, training and rich media.

What sets these thin clients apart is their rich set of capabilities including:
• Dual digital monitor support at 2560 x 1600 for the best thin client display yet;
• Designed for display of SD and HD video (720P);
• Advanced Bluetooth 2.0 for VoIP and Unified Communications applications;
• Up to 2 GB RAM and 4 GB Flash memory for the most demanding applications;
• Discrete graphics processing unit for advanced display performance and support for future graphics protocols;
• PCI express expansion for fiber networking and additional display support (up to 6 total);
• Green IT support with standby states as low as 2W.

The Wyse R50L with SUSE Linux Enterprise and R90L with Wyse enhanced Windows XP Embedded offer high levels of performance in a more affordable package in applications where dual 2560 x 1600 resolution, PCIe expansion and HD video capabilities are not required.

The Wyse V10L Dual DVI is the next generation of the V10L thin client. With double the graphics capability of previous models this is the most powerful offering in the Wyse Thin OS product line and is well-suited for advanced client virtualisation environments.

For mobile workers, Wyse is now shipping the Wyse X50L mobile Linux client, the first thin client based on the Wyse Enhanced SUSE Linux Enterprise, the next-generation of Linux operating system designed for thin computing environments, announced in September. With a fast processor, powerful WXGA TFT LCD screen and flexible connectivity with four USB ports, the X50L supports collaborative processing for a superior multimedia experience.
