| WorkLight Goes Mobile with Support for the Apple iPhone WorkLight announces the release of the WorkLight Server support for the Apple iPhone, which allows companies, to do business securely using the popular mobile device. Businesses can now empower their customers and partners to use the iPhone to make purchases and track account and transaction activities. This is a critical business enabler for a wide range of industries, such as travel and hospitality, financial services, healthcare, utilities and others. From today, the same WorkLight services that have been available across a host of popular desktop and web platforms are now available via mobile phones. Gartner has estimated that worldwide sales of mobile phones will reach 1.28 billion units in 2008, an 11 per cent increase from 2007. Worldwide mobile phone sales in the first quarter of 2008 reached 294.3 million, and Gartner expects sales in the second quarter of 2008 to be between 300 million and 305 million units. Apple has reported that over 1 million units of the latest release of the iPhone 3G device were sold in the first few days it was made available. The new WorkLight Server offering also includes new security capabilities that specifically address Web 2.0 security risks. With the growing popularity of consumer tools for business, security measures are becoming crucial in dealing with emergent security challenges. The new offering adds enhanced phishing prevention mechanisms, such as secure provisioning, personally-registered gadgets and an enhanced secure login process. The iPhone is the newest addition to the 14 Web 2.0 platforms that WorkLight supports. These platforms include personalized homepages, social networks, RSS, social tagging and bookmarking and others.
