Intermec Releases Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 on CN3

Intermec announces that the CN3 mobile computer is the first rugged handheld to operate on Windows Mobile 6.1. The CN3, designed for mobile workers performing mission critical tasks for in-field and in-premise applications, combined with Windows Mobile 6.1, offers users advanced features including enhanced virtual memory, increased application speed and faster boot-up times to maximize business operations. The operating system also boasts an improved user interface with increased performance and stability.

Users of the CN3 featuring Windows Mobile 6.1 can also take advantage of Microsoft System Center Mobile Device Manager (SCMDM) to gain new provisioning, configuration, management by policy, security features and improved control for mobile system and application management. Mobile Device Manager helps IT professionals to manage devices similar to the way they manage PCs. Using administrator driven management policies, Mobile Device Manager enhances on-device security making it easy to provision, configure, and deploy devices while giving mobile employees access to confidential information on corporate networks with firewalls. Intermec is currently the only rugged device manufacturer to offer support for Mobile Device Manager.

The Intermec CN3 with Windows Mobile 6.1 will begin shipping later this month.
