WWF Selects Carrenza

WWF (formerly known as World Wildlife Fund) has selected Carrenza to manage the hosted services for its UK website. One of the criteria for selection was the environmental impact of the solutions being offered. Carrenza's Utility Computing Service (UCS) has enabled WWF to cut their hosting energy consumption by 20 per cent as soon as the migration was complete and this is predicted to rise to 40 per cent once they launch their new site in September. The UCS solution will also enable the environmental organisation to reduce their annual total cost of ownership by 15 - 20 per cent.

Carrenza's UCS eliminates WWF's requirements for hardware by using a network of dedicated servers to provide the processing power and hosting capabilities needed to run its UK website over a virtual platform. The efficiency of Carrenza's UCS has enabled the charity to reduce its server hardware requirements by a third.

WWF-UK's website is a relatively large and complex operation. Carrenza is managing the hosted service for the organisation's public facing website, its web database and its developer platforms.

The UCS also provides WWF's site with complete flexibility. The use of virtual servers means that the conservation organisation's hosting infrastructure can scale-up rapidly to meet spikes in visitor numbers and user demand stimulated by specific campaign activity.
