Telrad Networks Deploys Softswitch with Aster

Telrad Networks has successfully completed the installation of a softswitch solution for Aster, the Triple-Play provider in Poland. The solution is based on the CS2000 Nortel softswitch, and Telrad's Commatch 9000 media and trunk gateway. Aster's selection of Telrad for the project is a continuation of a four-year relationship, in which Telrad originally enabled connectivity for Aster's telephony services through Telrad's Commatch 6002 access gateway. The softswitch solution has been commercially operational since March of this year, capable of supporting tens of thousands of new subscribers anticipated through 2008.

This project illustrates the flexibility that Telrad's Commatch line brings to operators. Originally carrying data and TV over their cable network, Aster first chose Telrad's Commatch 6002 access gateway for a reliable and low-risk rollout of telephony services. Four years later, demand has now grown to a level, which justifies a softswitch solution. Building on the initial architecture, Telrad was able to quickly deploy the softswitch and also upgrade its Commatch gateways to integrate with it, giving Aster an efficient path to continue its growth without disruption.
