| Sharp Introduces Two New LCD Panels Sharp Microelectronics of the Americas (SMA) has announced the availability of two new TFT (Thin Film Transistor)-LCD panels. The displays – one 5.7-inch and one 8.4-inch model – were developed to provide industrial application engineers with even more flexibility for incorporating Sharp technology into their designs. The panels also meet Sharp's Strong 2 criteria for industrial display technology. Strong 2 defines stringent standards for brightness, contrast, temperature range, shock, and vibration. Sharp's Strong 2 Performance Criteria: - Brightness: A minimum high brightness of 400 nits eliminates the need to add extra display backlights to compensate for high ambient light situations. - Contrast: A standard high contrast ratio of 600:1 provides crisp images and vivid display colors. - Temperature Range: Operation in extreme temperatures ranging from -30º to +80ºC eliminates the need for cooling/heating methods. - Shock and Vibration: Certifications of 60 G – 70 G shock and 1.5 G - 2.0 G vibration are for ideal for surviving even the roughest handling. The 5.7-inch (LQ057V3DG02) and 8.4-inch (LQ084V3DG01) TFT-LCDs These two VGA panel displays are loaded with features that deliver rich graphics and information content for a variety of applications, including point-of-purchase screens, VoIP products, medical equipment, test and measurement equipment, and many others. An anti-glare polarizing filter improves visibility in bright ambient light situations, and a wide viewing angle provides for optimal usability in dynamic, real-world industrial settings. The new Sharp 5.7-inch LQ057V3DG02 is a light, compact module that features Chip-on-Glass technology. It has a 640 x 480 pixel format and an 18 x LED backlighting system that provides high-brightness of 400 nits.
