Butler Group Extols Virtues of Bloxx Tru-View Technology Third-Generation Web Filter

Bloxx has announced the results of an independent technology audit from respected analyst firm Butler Group. In the audit, Butler Group highlights a number of the product's key strengths, such as its 'live' web contextual analysis engine which solves the problem of keeping URL databases up to date, the support for granular role-based access policies and its best of breed reporting capabilities.

TVT performs real-time contextual analysis of each requested Web-page and classifies access requests into pre-defined categories. The solution then makes a rules-based decision on whether to grant or deny access to the requested Web page. In addition to granting controlled access to Web pages, the solution is also able to restrict file and information download capabilities and control the use of Instant Messaging (IM) and Peer-to-Peer (P2P) software.

"The fact is that the use of URL filtering, keyword scanning, and white and black listing used alone or collectively is no longer effective enough to protect organisations and their users", explains Butler Group Senior Research Analyst, Andy Kellett.

"In Butler Group's opinion, the multi-layered protection and contextual analysis approach to Web filtering used by Bloxx in its TVT solution provides a highly-competitive, leading-edge solution in a marketplace that is often driven by vendors whose Web filtering solutions still rely more heavily on the frantic need to keep large URL databases up-to-date."

"We believe that the Bloxx TVT offering is well placed to continue to serve its core customer base and is now in a good position to deliver its services into the larger enterprise marketplace as well. Overall, an impressive solution that is well-aligned to deal with the dynamic nature of the Internet and current Web usage trends", adds Kellett.

"We are very proud that the highly respected Butler Group should produce such a positive technology audit on our Tru-View Technology", explains Bloxx Managing Director, Eamonn Doyle. "The Butler Group has seen what our burgeoning list of customers has; that we provide a real world solution to reducing the risks to organisations and their users from inappropriate Internet use and as a result help to dramatically enhance employee productivity."
