DTS-HD Master Audio Suite Blu-ray Disc Production Toolset Updated

DTS has released an update for DTS-HD Master Audio Suite (MAS) toolset for Blu-ray Disc and DVD production. Along with numerous file management features, DTS-HD MAS V1.6 includes the public release of Dynamic Automation for DTS Express, an interactive Secondary Audio codec for Blu-ray Disc.

"The latest feature set empowers content creators with the freedom and flexibility to dynamically vary the primary audio volume, which is essential for picture-in-picture, alternate tracks, director commentaries and other interactive features for Blu-ray Disc", said Brian Towne, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Consumer Division at DTS.

Secondary audio DTS Express streams encoded for Blu-ray Disc with MAS V1.6 are playable on all Full Standard Profile (1.1) and BD Live (Profile 2.0) players.

DTS-HD Master Audio delivers sound that is bit-for-bit identical to the studio master. It is featured on numerous Blu-ray movies and music releases. DTS-HD Master Audio can provide up to 7.1 audio channels at a 96 kHz sampling frequency / 24-bit depth, or 5.1 audio channels at 192 kHz. The DTS-HD Master Audio bit stream also contains the DTS 1.5 Mbps core for backwards compatibility with existing DTS-enabled home theater systems, and delivery of 5.1 channels of sound at more than twice the resolution found on most standard DVDs.
