VeriFone Announces QX120 Contactless Solution

VeriFone Holdings has announced the QX120, a contactless payment solution that supports all major contactless payment schemes, including those initiated from mobile phones using the emerging Near Field Communications, or NFC, standard. The new contactless peripheral offers merchants and banks an extremely cost-effective means to support any form of contactless payment whether presented via card, fob or NFC enabled mobile device.

The ultra thin QX120 can be easily connected to a stand alone payment device or integrated POS system to provide contactless acceptance capability quickly. Versatile and stylish, the QX120 is designed to appeal to retailers and consumers alike, with a high-contrast white backlit LCD that displays the transaction amount and other messages to consumers.

The QX120 was designed to support the global contactless program specifications from American Express, MasterCard, Visa, Discover and JCB with virtually no changes to existing payment hardware or software.

The elegant design of the QX120, a large branding area and flexible mounting options suit any environment. The device can be used on the countertop or wall-mounted to reduce clutter and enhance ease of use.

Combining a high-performance, 32-bit microprocessor, advanced technology and a sophisticated, ergonomic design, the QX120 offers a suitable contactless solution for a wide range of payment and value-added applications. The QX120 is expected to be available by early spring, 2008.
