Seapine Intros 2008 Versions of TestTrack Studio and Surround SCM

Seapine Software has announced TestTrack Studio 2008, a software test management solution, and Surround SCM 2008, a software configuration management solution. The announcement of these updates to Seapine's ALM portfolio was made at CMP Media's SD Best Practices in Boston.

Workflow automation in TestTrack Studio 2008 is even more flexible, with automatic escalation rules to ensure critical issues receive timely attention, and event-based triggers that can send emails, modify data, and execute external applications. TestTrack Studio 2008 also includes a number of new features to keep teams organized and able to find information faster. Folders provide the perfect system to hierarchically organize issues, test cases, and test runs, while tabbed views enable quickly switching between list windows with different pre-defined queries and column layouts. And, finding issues in a large database is easier than ever with type ahead searching.

Distributed development teams are now the norm and fast access to digital assets, including source code, design documents, and test data is essential to productivity. Surround SCM 2008's new proxy server improves performance of file retrievals for distributed teams by caching recently accessed files. Innovative pre-caching of new file versions is unique to Surround SCM's proxy server. The result is fast access to files from any location in the world.

Improved integration between TestTrack Studio 2008 and Surround SCM 2008 lets developers easily manage the inherent relationship between issues and resulting source code changes. A rewritten Visual Studio 2005 plug-in makes Surround SCM 2008 a first-class source control citizen in Microsoft's industry-standard integrated development environment.

TestTrack Studio 2008 and Surround SCM 2008 are expected to ship in early October 2007 and will be available for Microsoft Windows, Linux, Sun Solaris, and Apple Macintosh operating systems. Licensed TestTrack Studio and Surround SCM users with active support plans are eligible for free upgrades.
