2X ApplicationServer v.5 Small Business Edition Released

2X has announced the release of its application publishing solution, 2X ApplicationServer v.5 Small Business Edition. The new release targets entrepreneurs running small businesses, providing them with safe and seamless access to applications and data from any location without stressing their IT budget.

2X ApplicationServer allows you to seamlessly publish and manage any Windows application onto remote Windows, Mac or Linux desktops. The application only needs to be installed once on the server, eliminating the administration hassle of deploying the applications on all workstations. By transmitting just the screen updates rather than the client server data, allows for remote access from everywhere.

For companies and organizations with more than one Terminal Server or Terminal or server farms, 2X ApplicationServer is available in an Enterprise Edition. This state of the art, centrally administered, server-based computing solution, installs and deploys in minutes, making it a suitable enterprise-wide application. It is suited for organizations with mobile workforces, remote offices and telecommuters, supporting full redundancy and other management features.

The new integrated universal printer is a single-driver printing solution for 2X ApplicationServer. It enables any client device to print to any shared network printer of any make, model, or print driver. The 2X Printer Driver fully enables client-side printing using a single PDF-compatible print driver and supports RDP Win32 clients. It allows 2X Client users to print on their local printer.

Other new features:
• Sycnhronize Desktop objects with published shortcuts: The administrator can now create shortcuts to published applications, desktops or documents to the client desktop.
• Associate File Extensions of Published Application: Registers specific file extensions with a particular application on the client.
• Full Redundancy: If the primary installation machine fails, a secondary machine will take over.
• Improved Client: New client handles "Application Groups" with the same name. The UI now handles groups (displayed in the folder view) with the same name.
