| Tier-1 Vendor Selects Telrad's WiMAX VoIP Solution Telrad Networks announces that its Commatch 6004 product has been included into the WiMAX products catalogue offerings of a major Tier-1 telecommunications equipment vendor. The featured product, which supports voice over WiMAX through existing legacy switches, allows immediate implementation of voice and voice related services, providing an inexpensive WiMAX VoIP solution with seamless interoperability. Commatch 6004 eliminates the need for a softswitch for call handling in VoIP deployments by providing a SIP to V5.2 gateway platform that transfers voice signaling as well as services such as call waiting, caller ID, fax, and other services. The solution is particularly appealing in rural areas, where cost is a major issue, and in initial WiMAX deployments, where the upgrade to a softswitch is planned in the future but an interim solution is required. Commatch 6004 has been accepted by the European telecommunications vendor as part of its standard offering, following successful field trials and live implementations.
