indya.com Launches New Downloadable Video Service

indya.com, the Internet portal wholly-owned by the STAR Group, has announced the launch of its digital entertainment store, which for the first time makes some of India's most popular entertainment content available for download. At launch, content from across the STAR network, including popular "K- Serial" Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, The Great Indian Laughter Challenge and Koffee With Karan will be made available for download. Indya.com is also working with other content providers to bring the best of Indian documentaries, films and music online.

The service is available worldwide and is targeted primarily at South Asian audiences in the U.S., U.K., Canada and Southeast Asia.

Users can access the servicehere, which is powered by Direct2Drive, Fox Interactive Media's digital retail store, which already offers an array of downloadable film, television and anime content from leading providers, such as 20th Century Fox, Lionsgate Films, and Starz Entertainment.

The new service offers a "download-to-own" pricing structure, in which content is downloaded to the end-user's PC. Purchased content is then playable on up to two Windows Media compatible devices, including portable players, allowing consumers to view their content on the go.

In addition to top TV entertainment downloads, consumers will shortly have access to current affairs updates, as well as top Indian films and music.
