Verbatim Enhances Store 'n' Go USB Family with New 8, 12GB Drives

Verbatim has announced the latest additions to its Store 'n' Go line of USB Drives. In addition to a new 8GB flash drive, a new 12GB drive was launched. With 12GB of storage in a device that is only slightly larger than a standard USB flash drive, the new drive delivers the highest capacity yet available using one-inch hard drive technology. By offering a full range of Store 'n' Go drives, Verbatim delivers the capacity, performance and security today's more mobile users need to meet their individual storage requirements.

Like Verbatim's other Store 'n' Go products, the new 8GB and 12GB USB drives are instantly recognized when plugged into the USB port of a desktop or notebook PC. With this mobility, road warriors, students and commuters can easily carry their data with them and can connect the drive to any computer through the USB port when they arrive at their destination.

Store 'n' Go drives are designed for anyone that needs portable mass storage. With the easy-to-use devices, users gain a whole new range of mobility options. Students can use the drive to transfer files from school libraries to their home PC. Families with two or more home computers can use the drive to move files from one computer to another, instead of setting up a network. Verbatim Store 'n' Go Drives can be used with Windows 98SE, 2000, XP; MAC OS 8.6 and higher; Linux 2.4.0 and the newly released Microsoft Vista. A Microsoft Vista-compatible version of the security application will be available later this month.

Verbatim's Store 'n' Go Pro Drives provide a maximum write speed of 14MB/sec speed (over 90X in terms of CD speed rating), and a maximum read speed of 24MB/sec (over 160X).

While these features provide digital photographers, graphic artists, IT professionals, MP3 enthusiasts, etc. with a compelling storage solution, the advanced security features also make the drives suited for business users. In addition to including hardware data encryption and tamper-resistant password entry security, the Store 'n' Go Pro drives feature V-Key File Synchronization Software that helps users manage data and ensure that the most current information is updated between devices. Vista supported versions of V-safe and V-key will be available later this month, and 8GB capacity is anticipated early first quarter.

Based on Verbatim's award-winning line of Store 'n' Go Pro USB drives, the Corporate Secure USB drives feature mandatory safeguards to protect all device content with a complex password. The hack-resistant feature locks down the device after 10 failed logon attempts, protecting the data from dictionary or brute force hack attempts. The mandatory security features of the new USB drives make them suited for mass deployment by government agencies, corporations and private enterprises, especially those in medical, legal, research, administrative and financial fields which are faced with critical demands to protect confidential data. More than a standalone solution to secure mobile data throughout the enterprise, Store 'n' Go Corporate Secure USB drives are also capable of being centrally managed by corporate IT department using mTrust security software, which is available separately. An 8GB version of Verbatim's Store 'n' Go Corporate Secure USB drive is planned for early Q1.

These stylish, ultra-sleek drives enable consumers to carry launchable, smart software applications; PC settings; files and personal preferences wherever they go - without always having to carry a laptop, or risk not having a needed application on a borrowed PC. They can quickly access their emails, applications, personal settings, bookmarks and favorites, folders and documents on any Windows XP or 2000 PC. Well-known for differentiating its products with true added value, Verbatim ships its Store 'n' Go U3 Smart Drives with eight preloaded U3 applications. The hardware and software combine to provide a compelling solution for consumers ranging from business users and professionals to students and families who share a computer.
