Vocera System Software Version 4.0 Released

Vocera Communications has announced Release 4.0 of the Vocera System Software. With new administration tools, Vocera-designed high availability clustering architecture, and increased scalability, the Software will strengthen the System's ability to serve as the most innovative method of exchanging critical, real-time information between mobile personnel in wireless environments.

In addition to the performance boosts made to the Vocera System Software, release 4.0 enhances the ability to integrate Vocera with other third-party applications by adding a new Vocera Administration Interface, a complement to the existing Vocera Messaging Interface. This enhanced integration capability will increase the Vocera ecosystem of development partners and further incorporate Vocera into the workflow of mobile enterprises.

Vocera System Software Release 4.0 includes these new features:
• Increased Scalability - Vocera System Software 4.0 substantially increases the limit on the number of simultaneously logged in users. The previous version of the Software was limited to a maximum of 1,800 users. Release 4.0 can support up to 4,200 simultaneous users, more than doubling the previous limits.
• Tiered Administration Access - Release 4.0 will streamline administrative tasks by permitting System administrators to delegate maintenance tasks to other users. This functionality will improve response time to necessary changes that may arise related to status monitoring, user modification, user and temporary user management, or address book management.

Vocera Communications' Software Release 4.0 boosts performance/Page Two:
• Vocera Clustering Architecture - The new Vocera Clustering Technology speeds the failover process, reducing failover completion time from minutes to seconds by quickly re-establishing service using a backup server if the primary server becomes unavailable. The Software offers high availability and simplifies cluster configuration and maintenance, eliminating the need for, and costs associated with, third-party clustering software.
• Enhanced Group and User Management - Release 4.0 includes a new automatic log out feature which automatically can remove users from temporary functional groups at the end of their shift and clear users from the System that have been off of the network for a specified amount of time. Coupled with significant improvements in system reporting and report-query response times using updated third-party reporting software components, administrators can track active Badges better, thereby increasing System efficiency.
• Touch-Tone Generation - Users can now send dual-tone multi-frequency touch-tones from the Badge by verbally reciting the desired digits. With voice DTMF dialing, Badge users may call into interactive voice response systems and navigate a call tree by simply saying numbers that the Vocera Software converts and relays as DTMF tones.
• Direct Inward Dialing - Release 4.0 allows telephone calls to be connected directly to the user's badge, eliminating the need to say the name of the person or department the caller is trying to reach.
• Database Validation Tools - New validation tools check Vocera's database for integrity, duplication, and errors, making maintaining and using administering the Vocera Communications System more accurate and user-friendly than ever.
