| Let the Games Begin: New Game Consoles High on Holiday Wish Lists New video game consoles and high-definition and plasma TVs are at the top of holiday wish lists in 2006, according to a new web poll conducted by the CompTIA. Topping the list of most-wanted tech toys is the PlayStation 3, the new video game console from Sony schedule to hit stores this week. More than 21 percent of the 954 respondents to the CompTIA web poll placed PlayStation 3 at the top of their wish lists. Coming in at number three on the holiday wish list was Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox 360 game console. It was selected by 10.2 percent of web poll respondents. High-definition, LCD and plasma TVs was the second most popular choice, selected by 18.1 percent of poll participants. Other popular entries on holiday wish lists include digital cameras (9 percent), smart phones/personal digital assistants (5.8 percent) and MP3/digital music players (5.7 percent). The explosion of digital entertainment options and home network tools brings with it a new level of complexity when it comes to the installation, use and maintenance of these high-tech toys. While many of these products are easy to install and use, bringing together disparate components and systems can still be a challenge for many consumers. This is especially true for multi-room networked entertainment configurations and home control systems are involved. The CompTIA Web poll on high-tech toys was conducted between October 19 and November 14. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Computing News :: home page |
