Alienware Accepts NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX GPU

Alienware is continuing to feed the needs of graphic-hungry users. The PC maker will equip its most powerful desktops with the new NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX graphics processing units in single or dual-GPU mode with NVIDIA SLI technology. Customers purchasing award-winning Area-51 7500, Aurora 7500, and ALX desktops will be able to configure their systems with the industry's first GPU to be fully compliant with next-generation DirectX 10 games and applications.

The GeForce 8800 GTX provides exceptional graphics realism in computer-generated visual elements ranging from the detail of shadows and explosions to the movement of water and characters' hair, culminating in an extreme HD graphics experience at up to 2560x1600 resolution with blazing-fast frame rates. That graphics realism is produced by an advanced new unified shader architecture, which dynamically allocates processing power to geometry, vertex, physics or pixel shading operations, in addition to a high speed memory interface and two dual-link DVI outputs.

To complete the definitive NVIDIA gaming platform, the GeForce 8800 GTX is joined by NVIDIA's nForce 680i SLI -based motherboard. The nForce 680i is architected for maximum gaming performance both on Alienware's Intel-based Area-51 desktops and AMD-based Aurora desktops, and it utilizes NVIDIA SLI technology to enable up to double the gaming power of a single-GPU configuration.
