| GSM Association's Global Mobile Awards 2007 There are now just four weeks left to enter the mobile awards showcase, the GSM Association's Global Mobile Awards 2007. Now in their 12th year, the Global Mobile Awards are accepted as the most highly-sought after accolades in the industry, recognising innovation and achievement from all players in the mobile value chain, on a worldwide basis. The programme culminates in a glittering awards night ceremony on Tuesday 13th February 2007, during the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona. There are 19 Awards this year, spread across seven categories, all designed to reflect the rapid pace of growth and the changing dynamics of the mobile world. Categories include Best Mobile Entertainment, for "made-for-mobile" games, music, video, sports and news; Best Mobile Services, for enterprise and messaging applications; Best Mobile Handsets, for GSM and 3G phones and mobile devices; Best Marketing and Promotion, for broadcast commercials and the pioneering use of mobile advertising; and Best Technology, which covers technology innovation including radio access products, network quality and billing solutions. The "Bridging the Digital Divide" category focuses on the ways that mobile communications are helping to improve the health, wealth, education and social mobility of people, communities and countries. Awards in this category include the Best Ultra Low-Cost Handset, and also the Best Use of Mobile for Social and Economic Development. The GSMA's Mobile Innovation Forum – sponsored by Ericsson - also returns to encourage and promote small companies with big ideas in the mobile space. There are two Awards at this year's Forum – for Most Innovative Mobile Application or Content, and for Most Innovative Technology Development. The Forum is open to small, independent and start-up companies looking to bring their mobile technology ideas to the attention of industry investors and mobile operators, gaining exposure both to the market and potential financial backers. The Awards are open to members and non-members of the GSM Association. Final deadline for entries is 30th November. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Computing News :: home page |
